World Enviroment Day

World Environment Day is held each year on 5 June. This year the theme for the day is Forests: Nature at your Service.

For World Environment Day this year, Alice Solar City asked the youth of Alice Springs to tell us how using solar energy helps our environment.

They were invited to draw a picture, make a model, write a song..........anything,it was their choice on what they did.  They could enter indvidually or as class or a team. 

Winners were offered a gift pack valued at around $100, which included a range of solar goodies such as a solar DIY kit or a solar mobile phone charger, a LED lamp or a solar clock, and more.

There were three age categories:Winner Primary School - how using solar power can help our environment

Up to 9 years (Primary school)  

A young student from Sadadeen Primary School was the winner with this entry.

"Health Solar World" by Acacia Hill School Middle School Room 5

From 9 to 13 (Middle school) 

  • Acacia Hill School - Middle School Room 5 was the winner in this category wtih their entry  "Healthy Solar Power a Yin and Yang collage showing the difference between a world with solar power and a world without.  The collage features the students original art works and magazine clippings.  Each world has a butterfly at the centre to represent hope.

 

 

 

 

From 13 years upwards

Unfortunately we did not receive any entries in this category.

All winning  entries be displayed at the Smart Living Centre during June.
