Alice Springs residents now have the opportunity to invest in Power and Water 's Territory GreenPower program and reduce the impact of their energy use on the environment.
From as little as $1 a week, residents can pay a premium for energy from renewable energy sources within Australia that produce no net greenhouse gas emissions. By participating in GreenPower program, you are specifiying that some or all of your electricity comes from a renewable source, rather than traditional fossil fuelled generation.
Power and Water is continually seeking additional renewable energy sources within the Northern Territory, which will be part of the Territory GreenPower product. A 1 megawatt Solar Farm is currently under construction on the outskirts of Alice Springs, as part of the Alice Solar City project. When it is completed Power and Water will sign an agreement to purchase the clean electricity generated by the farm for 20 years. You can read more about the solar farm here.
