Home Energy Survey

Alice Solar City provides advice and information to householders to help them become more energy efficient at home. To make sure the advice is relevant to the individual household, a free, comprehensive home energy survey is provided for all householders who have registered with Alice Solar City.

What is an home energy survey ?

An energy survey is an informal walk through your home to evaluate energy usage and how you can reduce your energy consumption. By looking at the physical aspects of the house itself and asking questions about appliance use and lifestyle we can understand where and how you use energy in your home. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask questions as well.

Lyndon in action at a home energy surveyThe survey will be carried out by a trained energy auditor - more than likely a friendly bloke called Lyndon Hodges (Alice Solar City Residential Services Manager). Lyndon has carried out thousands of home energy surveys and there's not much he doesn't know about ways to save energy in the home.

The auditor will then work with you to formulate a plan of action tailored to your needs, lifestyle and budget. This will include a range of measures both large and small which may be physical or behavioural changes that wil help you save energy. Your personalised energy saving report will be printed on the spot so that you can refer to it later and discuss with the rest of your household.

As part of the Agreement with our main funder (the Australian Government) we will collect some information on the type of appliances you have and we'll also ask you some demographic questions. Generally we allow about 1.5 hours for the survey and someone will need to be home to show the auditor around.

 After the home energy survey

Alice Solar City provides financial incentives for a wide range of energy efficiency and solar energy measures; see the full list of measures.

The measures that attract a financial incentive will be highlighted on your energy saving report and you will be sent an Alice Solar City incentive voucher for each measure you plan to go ahead with; a list of Registered Suppliers for each measure will also be sent out.

Incentives are available for energy efficiency measures such as getting your roof painted whiteThe next step is to simply contact one or more Registered Suppliers for a quote, select your preferred supplier and organise for the work to be carried out. Once the work has been completed and the supplier issues you with an invoice it should include a discount equal to the value of the incentive voucher - make sure you hand the voucher to the Registered Supplier. There is one exception for the ‘Replace light bulbs with low energy bulbs’ incentive – when the voucher is given to the Registered Supplier at point of sale.
