Lighting typically accounts for 20% of commercial energy use. Our most common lighting recommendations are:
- Replace incandescent PAR38 floodlights with compact fluorescent equivalents. For security lighting, this can pay for itself in a few months.
- Replace halogen downlights with compact fluorescent or LED equivalents. New options are becoming available which provide good quality light at much lower energy use
- Install T5 retrofit kits to replace magnetically ballasted T8 fluorescent tubes
- Install timers, motion sensors and ambient light sensors to turn lighting off when not required
- Educate your staff to turn lights off when not required, and institute an end of day procedure
