Keeping Cool on a Larger Scale

A unique training opportunity will soon be available for managers, maintenance and service contractors of airconditioning, heating and refrigeration systems of large scale public facilities in Alice Springs.

Supported by Alice Solar City, and called “Dollars and sense of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning) maintenance for energy efficiency”, this is the first time such a course has been available in the Northern Territory.  This 2 day course is designed and presented by peak national body, the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating and will be conducted by a highly experienced specialist.

“Let’s face it, in Alice Springs we have come to rely on our major facilities, such as shopping centres, hotels, indoor sporting facilities, office blocks and the hospital, as being cool and comfortable all the time and to provide a respite from our extreme weather”, says Brian Elmer, General Manager of Alice Solar City.

“However these large scale facilities are the biggest users of energy in Alice Springs, so it is imperative that they are maintained and looked after effectively to achieve the best environmental and economic benefits possible.”

“By this we mean that they must work effectively, reliably and at the lowest cost.”
