Australian Government 'Green Loans'
The Australian Government has a program to assist Australian families to improve energy and water efficiency and install renewable energy systems in their homes.
On the 19 February 2010, significant changes to the Green Loans Program were announced. The re-design of the program includes the discontinuation of the loans component to provide for the significant boost to assessment availability;
The Green Loans Program will be replaced by The Green Start program from 1 January 2011. This Program will be directed at helping low income households and those most at need improve their energy and water efficiency and help tackle climate change. The Australian Government have advised that details of the new program are expected to be finalised in the coming months.
Householders can still apply for a Home Sustainability Assessment to be conducted by an accredited Home Sustainability Assessor. After the assessment an automated report is generated which will provide you with a list of sustainability measures to implement.
