Don't put a freeze on energy savings

The fridges and freezers in your business could add up to a surprising energy bill.

For example the bar fridges in 10 hotel rooms would be costing $900 per annum in electricity. And a walk-in cool room in a commercial kitchen could be costing over $4,000 per annum. Ensuring the door seals work correctly would easily save 10% of this cost - $400 per year!

Running your fridges and freezers too cold could also be costing you dearly. For each degree colder, you will be adding 5% more to your energy costs. Aim for a temperature of 4°C in your refrigerators and -18°C in your freezers. And defrost your freezers when ice buildup gets more than a centimeter thick.
