Incentives

Our Programs

Alice Solar City offers incentives on a range of energy efficiency measures to make your operations more energy efficient and more competitive. The incentives are broken into two tiers: small and large business.

Small Business Energy Efficiency Program

For small businesses, the Commercial Energy Survey focuses on identifying energy efficiency opportunities for the business premises. From the Survey, a range of standard energy efficiency incentives will be recommended and discussed with the business owner.

Alice Solar City incentive offer will be issued for the agreed set of measures for up to 35% of costs, with a total incentive cap of $5,000 per customer. The customer then arranges for installation of the recommended measures (using Alice Solar City registered suppliers and supporting local businesses wherever possible).

After installation, the supplier’s detailed invoice is presented to Alice Solar City along with the voucher to receive the incentive payment.

In addition to the standard incentives, customers can apply for inclusion in this program of a custom energy efficiency measure specific to their business. This could for example be a specialist piece of equipment which demonstrates best practice and substantial energy savings.

Large Business Energy Audit Program

For the purposes of Alice Solar City, Large Business is defined as those consuming more than 160 MWh of energy per annum at their main premises.
For these organisations, the Commercial Energy Survey focuses on identifying the organisation’s major areas of energy consumption, and looking at energy management and reporting practices.

Larger organisations are then encouraged, where appropriate, to engage a professional energy auditor to conduct a detailed energy audit. This type of audit incorporates expert knowledge of larger scale plant and equipment, and provides an analysis of the cost and payback period of identified energy efficiency opportunities.

Alice Solar City maintains a list of Registered Energy Auditors, and provides an incentive of 50% of the cost of engaging one of these auditors up to an incentive cap of $8,500. The audit can then form the basis for developing an organisational energy management plan.

Large Business Energy Efficiency Program

Large business participants can apply through this program to receive a subsidy of 35% on the capital costs of implementing energy efficiency measures up to a cap of $25,000. These measures should be identified through a detailed professional energy audit and be part of an overall energy management plan within the organisation.

To encourage larger, more innovative projects, grants of up to $50,000 may be available.

Applications for this program will be accepted twice a year, and will be competitively assessed against a set of funding criteria.

Cost Reflective Tariff Package

Businesses can move to a cost reflective pricing structure, which involves having their existing electricity meters replaced with a Smart Meter that logs electricity use at regular intervals, and moving to a peak and off-peak pricing structure. The customer can then opt to purchase a wireless display unit which provides information on instantaneous and historical energy use at your fingertips.

Photovoltaic Power Systems Program

All participating commercial customers will be eligible to apply for a subsidy of up to 50% of the cost of a 3kW photovoltaic power system, to be installed on their premises. The subsidy may be extended for up to a 5kW system for exemplary “Energy Champion” participants who have demonstrated a strong organisation wide commitment to energy efficiency.

In addition, customers may be able to access an elevated buy-back rate of 32c/kWh for the power generated by their system.
