The Alice Springs Reptile Centre has reduced energy use by 20% and achieved eco-tourism accreditation.
After their commercial energy survey in April 2009, Alice Springs Reptile Centre has reduced their electricity consumption by over 20% - a great achievement! They’ve accomplished this by installing:
- ceiling insulation
- energy efficient lighting
- solar hot water with a one shot booster
- shading and tinting on sun exposed window
- painting the roof white
Alice Springs Reptile Centre has also installed an 11.4 kW rooftop solar power system that provides over 45% of their electricity needs.
These measures have saved an excess of $6,000 in electricity costs and 22 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per annum.
