Alice Solar City wants to find Alice Springs’ most needy “Hot Box” – a house that is a real ‘stinker’ in summer, to give it a $5000 summer cooling makeover.
With the official start of summer this week, the ‘Hot Box’ competition will kick off a Cool Summer campaign in a bid to get residents to reduce their energy use.
“Here at Alice Solar City we have something to prove – that you can keep cool during the Alice Springs summer without getting a large power bill”, says Brian Elmer, General Manager of Alice Solar City.
“We invite the public to a free sausage sizzle in the Mall this Wednesday, between 12-2pm, where they can pick up a free bag of cool summer goodies and enter the draw to win the $5000 home “Hot Box” makeover.”
The winner of “Hot Box” will receive $5000 for measures like white roof paint, insulation, shading, and window tinting.
