Alice Solar City is designed to engage all sectors of the community, and to do so it has three key program areas:
- Residential: A range of incentives are available to residents of Alice Springs to encourage them to be more energy efficient and embrace solar technologies. It’s not surprising given the extreme weather conditions that, compared to national averages, Alice Springs households are high energy users. Each household can make a difference and benefit directly from the project, as well as make a valuable contribution to combating the effects of climate change.
- Commercial: Tailored incentive packages will be offered to the commercial sector. This are designed to help them examine their current energy consumption and achieve greater energy efficiency, reducing their costs.
- Iconic: Solar installations at a number of high profile public locations around Alice Springs will generate significant power for the town and will also help to raise the profile of solar power.
The Smart Living Centre is the hub of operations and focal point for interaction with all aspects of the program.
